D battery とか、C cells とか、乾電池のサイズの表現ですね。
Wikipedia（日本版） で乾電池の項を調べてみると・・・

　単1形 = D
　単2形 = C
　単3形 = AA
　単4形 = AAA
　単5形 = N
　単6形 = AAAA

という対応になるらしい。AAとか、AAAは見かけるね。

というか、むしろ、「単」というのが気になる・・・
